Director's Bio/Filmography
Marios Piperides was born in 1975 in Nicosia, Cyprus. After studying Broadcast Management and Film Production in the US, he returned to Cyprus in 2002. One of the benefits of the island’s small audiovisual sector is that it allowed him to gain hands-on experience in every aspect of filmmaking. While managing his own production company, Marios never stopped pursuing his passion for storytelling, which led him to write and direct a documentary and two short films. The overarching theme in his work revolves around the ongoing division of his home country and the need to overcome our own prejudices to see the human face of “the other”. Smuggling Hendrix is his first feature.
